We have just made the first public release of h3270, a web-to-host
adapter that comes under the General Public License (GPL).
h3270 is written as a server-side Java application that renders host
screens in pure HTML (no applets). It uses TN3270 via TCP/IP to
communicate with the host. We consider h3270 related to the x3270
tool suite by Paul Mattes. In fact, h3270 uses Paul's s3270 as the
underlying protocol engine.
What makes h3270 different from other web-to-host adapters is its
highly configurable layout engine that is based on regular
expressions. Since developers have full access to the entire source
code, this can be fully tailored to the needs of particular
applications.
We consider version 1.0 stable and of production quality, although
many further improvements are envisioned. For more information,
please have a look at the h3270 home page at
http://h3270.sourceforge.net.
