ANN: SnagIt: 40 capture options, 23 formats ... endless possibilities

While at a trade show, Dan the technical writer stopped by the
TechSmith booth. The staff was in the middle of a SnagIt
presentation.

Dan watched with interest as the crowd oohed and ahhed at the
demonstration of the 40 different ways of capturing. The crowd loved
the professional image editing effects, as well as the new look of
SnagIt 7. After the presentation finished, people began filing out.

"Do you already own SnagIt?" Dan asked an attendee.

"No - " the man began.

Dan said loudly, "Well, NO ONE is leaving the booth until they
understand how important it is to purchase this software!"

The crowd turned to look at the zealot.

He swiftly moved to the podium, grabbed the microphone and began
moving the mouse.

"You need to understand how this will make everything easier for you!
Look at the profiles - all your options for capturing are right on the
front of the interface! You can use any of the professional image
editing options - BEFORE you send your picture to the Clipboard, file,
e-mail - or wherever you want to send it!" he continued.

Gradually, the crowd settled down into their seats again, and watched
as Dan gave a good half-hour demo of all of SnagIt's options.

He finished by saying, "You may purchase SnagIt for $39.95 at the
podium."

The TechSmith staffers looked on in admiration as the attendees lined
up to buy. One of them handed Dan a SnagIt t-shirt as a thank you.

Dan walked away, refreshed and happy. He wanted to help people be
AWARE of their options. He wanted to help people SUCCEED. And most
of all, he wanted that SnagIt t-shirt.

TRAINING: Need to Document APIs and SDKs? You can get started now.

Documenting APIs isn't easy. But now, with our new
'workshop-on-a-DVD' it's a lot easier to get started.

You will learn:
- What are SDKs? Why sell them? Why buy them?
- How to structure the documentation set for an SDK
- What programmers really want: A real-world case study
- How to outline a Developer's Guide
- How to automatically generate a Reference Manual using DGP tools
- Strategies for going forward and resources for learning more

Here is what one satisfied customer had to say:
"Your DVD course, Documenting APIs and SDKs, breaks a difficult
subject down into manageable chunks. Manny' presentation is easy to
absorb. The information on the Developer's Guide, particularly the
outline, gave me a solid starting point from which to build the
document. This course pays for itself with dividends.

STORY: SnagIt with Ease

Dan the technical writer's coworker, Mark, pulled him aside in the
hall.

"Can you block off a couple of hours this week to teach me how to use
SnagIt, that screen capture software you always talk about?" he asked.

Dan chucked, "We don't need hours. Part of the reason SnagIt has 7
million customers is because it's SO easy to use. You can master the
program in minutes!"

They went to Mark's desk, where Dan led him through capturing, editing
and sharing. Dan showed him how he could change his image within
SnagIt - without using another editor. He demonstrated how to place
SnagIt in his Microsoft Office toolbars. He gave him an overview of
the 23 file formats Mark could use to save his captures.

Mark said, "This looks great! I'd better get started - wow!"

"What?" Dan asked.

"It's five minutes later than when I asked you to help me!" he said.

Defensively, Dan replied, "I could've showed you how to work it in ten
seconds. We spent a lot of time on the extras -"

Mark cut in, "Dan - I'm impressed. It really IS easy to use."

Dan walked away, feeling that, in the race against time, he was way,
way ahead.
