<< Reading other people's comments about characters revisited, I just
remembered something. In most books when the previous books characters
appear, they are happy and content. In one of Linda Lael Millers books, My
Darling Melissa, she also writes a sideline about the H/H of Corbin's Fancy.
What I like about it is, the couple were having difficulties in their
marriage. They had a couple of children (I think it was five), and life
wasn't running smoothly. By the end of the book they work out their
problems, but I liked this alot, because most marriages do not sail through
without conflicts and problems to be worked out.

I enjoyed the way Linda dealt with this. There is always a danger that by
giving a secondary couple too much play, the hero and heroine's story sinks
into the background from time to time. When writing the Rossmara series I had
to discipline myself not to become infatuated with secondary characters who
had been former heroes and heroines--the temptation is very great.
