Hi guys!

I have kind of an odd question. I've started reading Jude Deveraux's books,
and I've really enjoyed the few I've read. Unfortunately, I can't keep all the
Montgomery's and Chandlers and time periods straight! So here are my
questions: (1) Does anyone have a chronology of these books? and (2) does
anyone have a family tree that would help me make sense of all these people? I
would be *eternally* grateful for any help on this. Private e-mail, please,
unless other list members are interested. TIA!

Cathleen,

In the paperback edition of ETERNITY, there is a family tree of the 19th
and 20th Century Montgomery family. I *think* I have them in
semi-chronological order. Here's hoping!

The Black Lyon
The Velvet Promise
Highland Velvet
Velvet Song
Velvet Angel
The Maiden
The Taming
The Conquest
Mountain Laurel
Eternity
Twin of Ice
Twin of Fire
The Temptress
The Raider (quite possibly, this one comes before The Temptress)
The Princess
The Awakening
The Duchess
Knight in Shining Armour
Sweet Liar

It looks sorta right to me...but you don't have to read them in order to
enjoy them!

Cathleen & other Deveraux fans -

Just to let you know I'm gone, but only temporary <G>, I'm crawling
out of my mole hole just briefly to review the last few weeks worth
of digests before burrowing back down again to finish Vol. 2 of our
book by the end of April. All prayers and offerings to the Printer
Gods are deeply appreciated since they have decided to strike down
my laser printer at this auspicious time (agh-h-h!!)

But to answer your question; Here's what someone posted before
Christmas about Devereaux's convoluted relationships. I hope it
helps. Many thanks to Rhonda Keenan and Christine Cwiklinski who
originally posted this information.

Book 1: The Black Lyon H/H Ranulf de Warbrooke and Lyonene

Book 2: The Maiden H/H Prince Rowan and Jura (Montgomery, son of
Lyon and Lyonene, was Rowans squire)

Book 3: The Velvet Promise Gavin Montomery and Judith Revedoune

Book 4: Highland Velvet Stephen Montgomery and Bronwyn MacArran

Book 5: Velvet Song Raine Montgomery and Alyxandria Blackett

Book 6: Velvet Angel Miles Montgomery and Elizabeth Chatworth

Book 7: The Raider Alexander Montgomery and Hessica Taggert
(This is the introduction of the Taggerts into the Montgomery family
tree)

Book 8: The Dutchess Trevelyn Montgomery and Claire Willoughby

Book 9: Mountain Laurel Christopher "Kit" Montgomery and
Madelyn "Ia Reina" Worth

Book 10: Eternity Carrie Montgomery and Joshua Templeton

Note: According to Christine, The Temptress belongs in this time
frame (between Books 8 and 10) somewhere also. The hero is only known
as Tynan. The heroine is Christine something. Her mother's family
were Montgomery's. As a matter of fact, the belt from the Black Lyon
appears in this book and Christine just "knows" it "belongs" to her.

Book 11: Wishes Jocelyn '"Jace" Montgomery (son of Kit and Madelyn)
and Nellie Grayson

Book 12: The Awakening Hank Montgomery and Amanda Caulden

Book 13: The Princess JarI Tynan "JT" Montgomery and
Aria, Princess of Lanconia (Descendant from The Maiden); Hank and
Amanda are JT's parents. Amanda has a guest appearance in The
Princess.

Book 14: A Knight in Shining Armor Douglass Montgomery and
Reed Colin Stanford

Book 15: Twin of Ice Kane Taggert and Houston Chandler

Book 16: Sweet Liar Michael Taggert and Samanthat Elliot

Book 17: A Holiday of Love Frank Taggert and Leslie Harcourt (Frank is
Michael's elder brother)

Book 18: The Invitation William "Billy Montgomery and Jaqueline
"Jackie" 0 Neill, Kane Taggert (Michael's twin) and Cale

Also, in the Christmas anthology "Gift of Joy" there was a story
about McAllister Taggert.

The Heiress fits in here somewhere as well. Maybe someone else
knows.

Happy Reading!

I think Twin of Ice is out of sequence here. Isn't it a 19th century
setting while the Princess is in the 1930s or 1940s and Knight in Shining
Armor starts in the current time period?

Twin of Ice and Twin of Fire *are* set in late 19th century Colorado. Maddy
and 'Ring (not Kit!) from Mountain Laurel have a son Jace who is a
friend of Kane Taggert, the hero of Twin of Ice. I think Hank from The
Awakening is also a son of Maddy and 'Ring.

Actually, according to my family tree in _Eternity_ Hank is the son of
Maddy's sister, Laurel and 'Ring's brother, Jamie, no book yet for these
two though, :(
