Poling Poles: What Did They Look Like, etc.?

From a couple curious folks in the Southeast...

Can anyone provide details of "poling" operations, such as how big the poles
were/are, their construction, size, etc., and the technique for using them
(one-person, one person at each end...).

Poling poles used to pike carrier poles. Three per set 10-12 feet long.
Prior to climbing poles check for rot and other damage. Pike poles
before climbing. I have seen cases where maintainers did not and serious
injury resulted. Many times fatal.
