I have dropped the gateway between this newsgroup and the por mailing list. I
did this so that the newsgroup would no longer be spammed from the netnews
side of the gateway. (At least not so easily.) I'm not terribly happy with
this option, but it's the best I can go given the amount of time I can devote
to this group.

You may subscribe to the por mailing list by sending the command:
subscribe por John Doe
in the body of an email message addressed to list...@unc.edu, replacing John
Doe with your own name.
