from rec.humor.funny:

From "The Irish Emigrant" newsletter, 16th June 97, reporting on this
month's elections in Ireland:

- There were some blasphemous giggles in the media during the week when
attention was drawn to the fact that Angela Keaveney of the Christian
Solidarity Party, running in Dublin North, polled exactly 666 votes.
Another story doing the rounds was that of the voting sheet which had
a number one beside every name, with the words "As promised" added in
explanation at the bottom.
