Hi Jim,

We've seen this to its end with a bit of stumbling along the way, eh,
Jim.

While you're in the forest counting all the trees this email
discussion hasn't used, I have mantra for you to chant: 'Pine is not
elm,' which describes its best feature. <g>

Fred Viles <epi!f...@AMD.COM> had this to say today on list PMail:

"No, if you are in the BCC list you should see the same To: list and
CC: list as any other recipient. The only thing NO recipient should
see is the BCC list itself.

"The purpose of BCC is to allow copies of an email to be sent to some
folks without all the other folks knowing that it was done. Putting
someone in a BCC list does not mean that *that person* should have any
additional information (i.e. the To: and CC: lists) hidden from
him/her."

Blind CCs are used to influence or monitor events via back channels
and the blind recipients need to know who is the focus of the
surreptitious activity. Couldn't play the game otherwise.

So, our experiments have shown that the Pegasus BCC list is blind to
the extent it need be.

Your concern re. Mercury distribution lists was best put about a
month ago by someone publishing a financial news letter via email.
He didn't want his subscribers soliciting or stealing his other
subscribers.

Well, I see MERCURY in the TO. That's the whole point! We should
be able to send something and NOT SEE WHO in the TO <G>.

Now it was BLIND where ALEX's address is concerned, but it's only
HALF-RIGHT <G>.

Maybe I got spoiled by that Glorious, Wonderful, Best of the West,
Pine <G>.

Thanks,

Jim
