Normally mail to Mercury comes in using the SMTP protocol and Internet
addresses should remain in proper RFC822 format. If you are receiving
mail with UUCP and Mercury is distributing it to the users then you
must be running MastGate.

I have a program that I run immediately after receiving my UUCP feed
from my smarthost. It scans each message header and changes adresses
of the form

smarthost!host.domain!user

back into Internet form

us...@host.domain

You could run this program before MastGate moves the messages from the
UUCP spool directory into Mercury's queue. If you can wait a few days,
I'll write up some documentation for it and post it to my mail server.

Andrew.

My UNIX host transfers the mails with UUCP style
addresses instead of domain style addresses. By
default mercury does not recognize these addresses
as local addresses. The only possibility I found
to solve this problem is, to add an alias for
every user to translate the UUCP style address
to domain style address.
Is there any, more general methode (e.x
wild-chars) to translate the addresses.

Thank you in advance
