How would you feel about a newsgroup(s) being created for Adobe InDesign
users to discuss their common concerns and offer support to each other?

I am not aware of any such newsgroups currently on Usenet, and would
consider drafting a control message if such a proposal received sufficient
support.

Comments?

Although not newsgroups, Adobe, on their website, does host separate
discussion forums for each of the Adobe products. A plus is that often a
question is answered by Adobe.

Here is a URL:

No need to duplicate the user-to-user forum at

While I must agree with what you state, it also means users must rely on
Adobe to keep their web-based service running and users must remember their
screen-names and passwords to participate. This may not seem like much until
you're the one who runs into a SNAFU. I changed e-mail addresses and it
became a pain in the posterior.

A Usenet forum(s) would provide much less cumbersome opportunities.

Also, they moderate the user forums. That's good sometimes, but it also means
they can (and do) remove posts that they don't want people to see there.

Once you get a name and a password from the adobe website you can point your
newsreader to adobeforums.com, (along with your name and password). Much
easier than the web based system.

So, in essence, you are saying that Adobe is providing its own newsgroups
already? Does this system work for Microsoft Outlook Express for the
Macintosh?

Yes, you can access the group through the web interface or through a
newsreader.
OE for the mac should work fine.

It may not be on the Usenet but here is a site devoted to InDesign users:
http://www.blueworld.com/blueworld/lists/indesign.html

(and it's not owned and operated by Adobe)
