The Dartmouth College Library seeks a dynamic reference librarian and
bibliographer for the Kresge Physical Sciences Library and Cook
Mathematics/Computer Science Library.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Physical Sciences Librarian, works as a
member of an information services team providing reference and collection
development services in a flexible, innovative and technically sophisticated
environment utilizing the Dartmouth College Information System, DIALOG, STN,
and a wide variety of specialized, networked information resources. Services
provided include instruction in information research tools and techniques;
marketing and publicity for library resources and services; online searching
using Dialog, STN, CD-ROM and Web-based resources; consultation with faculty to
determine instructional and research interests; and collection management and
development of print and electronic materials in selected areas of the physical
sciences, mathematics and computer science.
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA/MLS; educational background in the physical sciences
(Physics or Mathematics preferred); and a minimum of two years post-MLS
experience in an academic or special library. The successful candidate will
have strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collegially in small group
and team environments; strong reference and online searching skills; and
familiarity with use and application of computers in a networked environment.
RANK AND SALARY: Rank and salary commensurate with experience and

Instructor or Assistant Professor
Reporting to Head, Health Professions Library at Hunter College's
Brookdale campus, provides reference service, online searching, library
instruction, and collection development; serves as faculty liaison with
one or more health sciences departments; assists patrons in the use of
OPAC, CD-ROM's, online services, and the Internet/WWW. Qualifications:
Required: Instructor: M.L.S., or its equivalent from an ALA-accredited
library school. Assistant Professor: M.L.S., or its equivalent from an
ALA-accredited library school, and an additional Master's degree or
Doctorate. Highly desirable: Experience in academic or health sciences
reference, electronic resources, online searching, bibliographic
instruction, and collection development; subject degree in one of the
health sciences; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary: Instructor: $30,585 - $45,516; Assistant Professor: $32,062-
$53,779, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Liberal fringe
benefits. 35-hour, 5-day work week, including some evening and/or weekend
hours.
Hunter College, the second oldest college in The City University of New
York, is a coeducational, fully accredited college, with a large and
diverse faculty in the liberal arts and sciences and in several
professional schools. Hunter's total enrollment is approximately 19,000
students. Of these, about 8,000 are full-time undergraduate, an
additional 7,000 are part-time students, and over 4,000 are graduate

library collections.

Assistant Director/Technology Services and Operations
The Shenendehowa Public Library, which serves a population of
approximately 40,000 people, is seeking an Assistant Director/ Technology
Services and Operations. The Library has 14 Public Access Computers which
provide access to the Internet as well as other electronic resources. Eight
of these computers, which are part of a Computer Lab, are used for instruction
as well as public access. The Library serves as a cultural, and educational
center, and is conveniently located 30 minutes from the state capitol in
Albany. It is also within 3-31/2 hours of New York City, Boston, and
Montreal. The nearby Adirondack and Green Mountains afford ample opportunity
for recreational activities.
The library is seeking candidates with a combination of management,
information and technology skills. These technology skills should be based in
an IBM PC environment, with library automation systems knowledge, DRA
preferred.
This Assistant Director will:
Be responsible for leadership and overall management of electronic
library services.
Provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation,
maintenance and evaluation of the library's technology efforts.
Develop technology plans for future growth in coordination with other
department heads and administration.
Support and coordinate all electronic services.
Work cooperatively with the Technology Committee of the Board and the
Friends Technology representatives.
Be responsible for training staff in the use of electronic information
services and resources.
Requirements:
MLS and 6 years of library experience, at least 2 in administration.
Knowledge of computer based resources and services, Internet and Local
Area Networks,
Strong commitment to responsive and innovative service,
Management skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both orally
and in writing.

coordinator. Job duties include the coordination, administration,
management and evaluation of a variety of grant programs that are
awarded to libraries, including grants to establish public libraries in
unserved areas, grants to provide public library service to special
populations, grants to support and encourage interlibrary cooperation,
and grants to support library technology programs; preparing and
coordinating LSTA documentation (annual report and revisions to 5-year
plan) for Institute for Museum and Library Services; overseeing the
collection and reporting of the annual statistical reports from Texas
academic libraries; and formulating and recommending divisional policies
or program needs and alternatives based on research and input from the
library community. Starting salary: $2,825 - $3,051/month.
