He was an adventurer, photographer, potter, peregrine, bread baker, camp
counselor, actor, voracious reader, cyclist, outdoorsman, traveler, and
good friend to many. Everything he did he attacked passionately. He kept a
daily journal that chronicled his zest for living. It included photos,
ticket stubs, song lyrics, poetry, stickers, and the odd cookie fortune.
Kurtis attended Hilliard High School and graduated in 1997 from Logan High
School. He is survived by parents Hartley and Kathryn, brother Rudi, sister
Kelly.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to the Kurt Coursen
Scholarship Fund, Camp Kawanhee Foundation, RR 1, Box 120, Weld, ME
04285-9722. A funeral mass will be at noon Saturday, May 8 at
Transfiguration Catholic Church in Wauconda, IL. A memorial service will be
at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11 at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3500
Main St., Hilliard, OH.
He will be missed.
