On our campus, we begin to install LAN into various labs (I know,
we are behind!) A lot of people told me to document the LAN so I would have
a better chance of supporting them effectively. My question is: What should
go into the LAN's documentation?

So far this is what I have in mind:
- Technical specification of the server
- Cable schematic
- Workstation spec. (IRQ setup, jumpers...)
- Vendor's information
- Disaster recovery procedure & policy
- Service log of what's being done on the LAN

If any of you have an existing spec. for the LAN documentation, or
any experience with it - please give me some input. In order to conserve
the band-width, if you could E-mail me, I will post a summary if I get lots
of responses.

Thank you so much.

Make sure you get a document signed by the Chancellor (or some other high up
muck-ty-muck) that says anyone who changes anything without documenting it
will be fired. And make sure that everyone gets a copy.
