French computer dictionary recommendations?

I want to thank all who responded so quickly with suggestions, comments,
caveats etc. about a French dictionary and spell-checker. This is such
a wonderful list. I was able to quickly get some perspective on the
choices. Thankfully, I've been steered away from the NB-Microlytics
option, which would have cost me $70. and clearly not have met my needs.
I'm going to look into the Larousse dictionary, the WP CD, and I
discovered Oxford has a computer dictionary, too. Sounds like to do
spell-checking, I might want to consider using WP.

I started using Globalink's Power Translator to translate some French
articles to English. I find it helpful for getting the sense of
passages, though translations are rough and vocabulary quite limited. I
recall something like "l'esprit de Freud" got translated as "the gas of
Freud"; but, hey, change one word and you've got it, right? But Power
Translator works better if you run a spell checker on the computerized
text first; and then, one still needs a good online dictionary. I'll
report back on what I find I can put together ultimately.
