I received these two questions from a friend and do not kno w the
answers?

I know someone on this great list will assist.....you always do...thank
you in advance.
--------------------------------------------
1) How do I turn MIME on and off? What is MIME?

2) I recently upgraded to IE5.0 and with it I got Outlook Express
5.0.
I have tried to arrange my address book in alphabetical order (last name

first), but ever time I get into OE5 the address book reverts back to
alphabetical (first name first). Any help??

MIME (Mutipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) as defined in RFC (Request
For Comments) 1341 and revised by 2045, 2046, and 2047.
see http://info.internet.isi.edu/7c/in-notes/rfc

This freely available
specification that offers a way to interchange text in languages with
different character sets, and multi-media e-mail among many different
computer systems that use Internet mail standards.

MIME allows users to create and read e-mail messages containing:
- character sets other than ASCII
- enriched text
- images
- sounds
- other messages (reliably encapsulated)
- tar files
- PostScript
- FTPable file pointers
- other stuff

MIME supports not only several pre-defined types of non-textual message
contents, such as 8-bit 8000Hz-sampled mu-LAW audio, GIF image files,
and PostScript programs, but also permits you to define your own types
of message parts.

For how to turn off MIME in many different E-mail programs, see
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/nomime.html
