MARC tag 538

In our latest update to the USMARC Bibliographic formats (3/96) in the
tag 538 section, the last example shows the use for the Compact disc
note. Just last year at one of the open cataloging question periods at
the MLA convention, the question was asked about tagging the Compact
disc note and the L.C. representative said that 500 was still used.
Just today I searched MUMS for the CD note in 538 and found only 3
examples, all from OCLC copy.
Question: Is anyone out there using the 538 tag for your Compact disc
notes, and in particular, is L.C. using or planning on using this tag?
