Dear colleagues: A patron is looking for biographical information about
the composer George Posca. He seems to have been a 19th- early
20th-century composer of piano music (Am Strand, op. 8, no. 2) is his
best known piano work and may have been set to words in the 1920's under
the title "The Path on the Sea." I have exhausted our biographical
resources here. Does anyone have any information about birth,
nationality, list of works, etc.? Fell free to respond directly, and
thanks for any and all help. Richard Jones

"There's such a lack of truth in [American public life] today, and, of
course, it is very convenient not to have the arts around, because the
arts are all about truth--and that's why we have to do so much." (James
Judd, conductor)

“[To learn] is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and
trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the
disorder of your veins, you may see the world about you devastated by
evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser
minds. There is only one thing for it--to learn. Learn why the world
wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never
exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust,
and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you. (T.H. White)

“A person can do every thing the right way or the wrong way. The
authorship of the former need not be hidden or blamed on another person,
but can and should be quietly but openly acknowledged. The former can be
done more simply (with less guile), directly, and easily, need not be
undone, corrected, or re-made, and will not mislead or be a trial for
others. Eventually, it can be a matter for restrained personal
pride–especially of other have chosen the more pragmatic or diplomatic
resolution. Why would anyone do anything by the latter course.” (Earl
Chester Jones)
