Last year, USA Today published the results on the NRMP match both in
print and on the world wide web, about a week before the general match
announcement. When I say "results", I mean only that they printed the
PIN numbers of those students who matched. That's all. Didn't say
where you matched, only that you did in fact match. To complicate
matters further, they kept adding to the list of matched PINs as time
went by. Thereby, if you saw your PIN you could breathe a sigh of
relief that you matched, but if you didn't see it, all was not lost.

The URL for the 1996 match was
http://wsf1.usatoday.com/news/comment/lreg01.htm

When I checked the page this year, it said that it was last updated in
July 1996 (long after match day 1996) and that "we are no longer
offering this data". I have written to USA Today and asked:

1. Does that mean that they will not be offering that information for
the 1997 match, or only that the 1996 data is no longer available?

2. If they will be repeating the service for 1997, will the URL be the
same, and/or on what date will the results appear in the hard-copy
paper?

I will post any information they send back to me as soon as I get it.

Remember, if they do offer the service, the results are printed by the
5-digit PIN number, NOT the 6-digit NRMP applicant number.

If anyone else knows of any other source for "early" match results,
PLEASE post it here!

21 days and counting :)
