What do you mean by "clean"? I assume you mean, "Get rid of output over xxx
days old." You can get rid of old output by using the JES2 command
"$OJQ,DAYS>???,CANCEL". Then look at the "$TA" command to have the previous
command issued periodically by JES2 itself. Unfortunately, the $OJQ command
appears to only be able to cancel HELD output over ??? days old, not
"normal" (non HELD) output.

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja-vu at the same time.
I think I've forgotten this before. (Steve Wright)

use "$POJQ" with the DAYS> option to get non-held output.

Jacek,

In our JESPRMxx, i have:

/* EVERY 1 HR */
ŁTA,T=00.00,I=3600,'ŁPOJOBQ,READY,ALL,A>33'
ŁTA,T=00.00,I=3600,'ŁOJOBQ,ALL,A>33,CANCEL,/R=LOCAL.*'

which clears the output & held queues of anything over 33 days old.

To keep the output queue cleaned up, we use (on OS/390 2.6) commands like:

$PO JOBQ,READY,R=R00010,A>10

To keep held output cleaned up, we also use commands like:

$TA,T=17.01,'$OQ,Q=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWX01234567,CANCEL,A=7'

which is an automatic command issued every day at midnight that goes off at 5:01
PM and cleans up a lot of stuff.

Well, I guess I'll add what we do too! :-) Twice a day (shift change) we
automatically issue:

$OQ,ALL,CANCEL,A=3 to clear the held queue of stuff older than 3 days
$OQ,Q=Q,CANCEL,A=2 to clear the held queue of class Q (STCs) > 2days
$PQ,ALL,A=30 to clear the unheld output queue of stuff older than 30 days

If by chance the spool gets to 90% full at any other time, we'll issue these
commands at that point automatically (via Control-O).

We use an MPF exit for message $HASP050.
It checks the percentage spool ( TGS ), JQES, etc. are full and
starts an appropriate started task for each percentage.
i.e. START SPOOL,MEMBER=SPOOL95 for 95% full.

A small amount of cleaning is done at 95%, more at 96%, extreme at 99%.
Our nightly and weekly production also issue the S SPOOL,M=SPOOLD and SPOOLW

You must be careful with parameters like A=2, or A=3.
This weekend you are going to have three consecutive vacation days:
Good Friday, Saturday, Easter, and maybe Monday too.
When people show to work, they may not find any sysout left.
The proper thing to do is writing some REXX code that calculates the
number of vacation days that various holidays entail, and generate
the commands with the accurate A= specification.

Good idea, what is SPOOL? Relative to - "START SPOOL,MEMBER=SPOOL95".
