I am looking for some good sources of info for learning
about IDMS with COBOL II (IBM Mainframe).
Could someone recommend to me some good publications/web sites
that I can visit which would help me get a head start...
I have no current knowledge of IDMS, as I am primarily
from an IMS DB/DC background, but have recently picked
up some DB2. Anyone who could enlighten me on any
similarities between the above and IDMS, the info would be
much appreciated.

You may have seen these already in IDMS-L:
http://www.iuassn.com

As for publications, I hope you can still find these;
"The ADS/Online Cookbook", Larry E. Towner, 1986, Macmillan.
Goes into IDMS basics as well as ADS/O.
"IDMS/R Systems Desk Reference", Robert Husband, Terence McHenry,
Judith Wooten, 1987, John Wiley & Sons.
Discusses IDMS DBA.
"IDMS/R", Larry E. Towner, 1989, McGraw-Hill.
Database design as well as IDMS basics.
"Understanding Database Management Systems", Robert M. Mattison, 1993,
McGraw-Hill.
Really short comparisons between DBMS's.
Let me know if you find more recent publications, will you?
