We are converting the CAS package to LE COBOL and are having problems:

1. We have a DC COBOL program that is calling another COBOL program.
The statement is:
CALL DATECON3 USING DATEFORM.
This statement work just fine in our test region but in our QA
region we get the UFC6 abend reason code 1.
I have checked all of the programs and all are 31, any. Any
ideas.....

2. We have another program that we are trying to convert. The LE COBOL
version works just fine in test but in
Production we are getting:
TASK:AMMI; LOAD OF CSRL16JL FAILED-EITHER NOT DEFINED TO SYSTEM,
DISABLED
TASK:AMMI PROG:AMM53000 ABENDED WITH CODE D002
We do not know what CSRL16JL is or how it gets called by the
program.....

TIA

Hi George,

Regarding Issue #1... One thing to check in the LINK EDIT options for
DATECON3. It should include RENT.

George,
we also had the 'LOAD OF CSRL16JL FAILED-EITHER NOT DEFINED TO SYSTEM'
problem and, if I remember correctly, I traced it to an assembler module
being called from a LE program, and the assembler program messing up the
return address. I believe that the problem was because the high order bit of
the return address was being set incorrectly due to the addressing mode that
the module was being called in changing between COBOL II and LE/370.
Hope this helps,

Steve

To All,

In problem 1, I have relinked the program and it now has RENT.
also the program does the call, the called program does a
GOBACK.
I do not know if this makes any difference..

In problem 2,the program does a TRANSFER RETURN to the called sub program
and the sub-program does a DC RETURN. This is the only call is has.

GL.

Regarding problem #2:

We had the same one twice a few years ago. CSRL16JL is a LE/370 module which resides in the CSRL16JC module. This module normally is
loaded in LPA, but when IDMS needs it, it tries to find it in the CDMSLIB concatenation, without any luck offcourse. Take a look at
LO44428 and LS31790. I don't remember what release we were on at that time, but it point you in the right direction.

HTH,
