Allen Systems Group is trying to measure the need for asyncronous data
propagation from CA-IDMS journaled changes to Relational "target"
database environments (perhaps DB2, ORACLE, or SYBASE based data
warehouses, and/or coexistence). We are now deciding which
major database and data warehousing vendors to work with to provide as
smooth an integration as possible.
Please contact me with any questions or responses at
"den...@allensysgroup.com", or feel free to phone me, Dennis Warren at
(303) 823-9841.
Several Allen Systems Group customers are already accomplishing
"JOURNAL DRIVEN REPLICATION", through use of the current ASG-Tracer
product to reformat data for use in updating target relational databases.
However, these customers must now write their own SQL update programs,
manage journal inputs and coordinate the mapping of their source and target
environments. These aren't trivial tasks. I am working with a team of ASG
developers to provide additional software to work with TRACER to automate
the whole process for customers. Here are the main enhancements:
1. Mapping of CA-IDMS Fields to RELATIONAL Columns is automated, using
a GUI interface.
2. ASG-Tracer will capture logical keys for owner records in those
situations where only DBKEYs were written to the journal (e.g.,
CONNECT, DISCONNECT).
3. Target database SQL updates are performed automatically.
4. An auto-pilot feature will simplify the concatenation of archive
journals created in CV and LOCAL jobs. It will also audit the
validy and order of inputs.
