Hi,
Has anyone heard heard any rumors (or facts) about a kerberized telnet
(client and server)?
Thanks,
Jeff

At INTEROP, in the MVS/OPEN booth, the IBM guy said that with MVS/OPEN and
MVS/DCE we will have kerberized telnet. When I tried to get technical with
him on methods, his info fell apart.

As I see it, we need the MVS/OPEN and MVS/DCE before we will have a
kerberized TELNET session. This, I believe, requires MVS/ESA 4.3 and was
stated at INTEROP to be available in March. It will require upgrades to
lots of components like RACF, so if you have ACF2 or TOP SECRET, they will
have to upgrade too.

Fun.

Hmm, yes, as a matter of fact it does sound familiar. There are
Internet RFCs discussing the practice, and there is a tar file
which I think is named "telnet91.tar.Z" that includes such files
as "kerberos.c".

Try doing an archie on "Telnet". It's what I did when I was looking for
the sources to telnet. If not, I have a copy that appears to have this
feature.

If Jeff just wanted a kerberized TELNET, this is a help. But if he wants to
kerberize TN3270, he has a bigger task as who owns his TN3270 Server code?

Bob's is correct. I was looking for kerberized VM telnet server code as well
as kerberized TN3270 clients. I was hoping I might get a few hints from IBM.
Thanks,
Jeff

Then talk to IBM about a VM/DCE. I have not heard of it, only MVS/DCE, but
I would suspect that something is in the works...

There are plans for VM OSF DCE support...this has been discussed in a
number of locations and is supposed to be accompanied by POSIX compliance.
