Hello,

I'am since 1year a Mainframeoperator at the T-Systems Oparting in
Magdeburg-Germany.
There is so many stuff that beginners must learn, so I'm lucky to find
this group.

Does anybody have some important informations, IBM courses/guides or
other Mainframe groups?

regards

A good way to rapidly gain mainframe operations and systems programming
skills would be to install Hercules and run a test version of z/OS or z/VSE
on your own PC. This way you could experiment with all the commands without
any fear of breaking your company's production system.

However you cannot do this because IBM licensing restrictions prohibit this
type of self-education.

Go figure.

Hi spflug,
I'm a z/os specialist with 12 years of experience and my advise is to
get the collection : ABC of system programming volume 1 to 10.
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg245597.html

Those redbooks are great for self education...

Hope this help...

thanks for your informations.
i try Hercules, thats a good idea but a little bit to boring.
i must touch the product systems ever day, the learning by doing effect
is more helpful i think.

the redbooks are nice, i will read it.
