Yesterday, Tuesday 01/29, a squirrel made its way into an
Alabama Power substation and touched the wrong things. This
resulted in a power outtage that lasted from approximately
11:15 AM to 6:00 PM. Once power was restored, we had an I/O
board failure on the server that runs IBM-MAIN. Hours later,
the board was replaced with a new one, but that one turned
out to be bad. Hours and hours later, we received a new board
and other than some minor problems, we came back up at 11:45 AM
Wednesday. Apologies for the outtage, but stuff happens.

In order to keep the list from being flooded with "I'm not getting
any IBM-MAIN mail", I'm going to be killing threads of that
nature. Please try to keep discussions on topic. If you have
questions or comments, you can contact me directly at
dar...@bama.ua.edu. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

In all fairness to SUN equipment, it also happens to *any* machine,
UPS or not, with EPO trigger-happy Network folks around. I think it'll
be well into the next decade before anyone here forgets that one!

Yes. It was last seen hitch-hiking its way back to Redmond.
