DFHSM QUESTION - ARC0378I

G'Day,
 
I have a problem with a backup tape.  HSM was performing its scheduled incremental backup when a problem occurred with the drive.  The tech. needed the drive to fix it so I had to cancel HSM, however I stopped all activity,  also, since the window for PRIMARY SPACE MANAGEMENT had been passed the backup function was not running.
However, when I started up HSM I noticed the following message :
 
ARC0378I TTOC RECORD AND TAPE MEDIA CONTENTS ARE
 INCONSISTENT ON TAPE VOLUME ZQ0813
 
I tried to recycle the tape but I got the mesage :
 
ARC0830I RECYCLE COMMAND PROCESSING STARTING                                   
ARC0838I VOLUME ZQ0813 FULL=YES, PERCENT VALID=006, VOLUME TYPE=DAILY(06), FAILE
 FAILED CREATION=YES                                                           
ARC0445I VOLUME ZQ0813 CANNOT BE RECYCLED, REASON= 0008, EXPLANATION: TTOC RECOR
ARC0847I RECYCLE INPUT VOLUMES FREED=0000, OUTPUT VOLUMES USED=0000            
ARC0831I RECYCLE COMMAND PROCESSING ENDING                                     
 
A colleague recommeneded to fix the ARC0378I  problem I should run an AUDIT:
 
HSEND AUDIT MEDIACONTROLS VOLUMES(ZQ0813) NOFIX
 
My question is would this correct the problem and what is the difference between NOFIX and FIX parms?

NOFIX is a test run. FIX performs the fix.

Thanks for clearing that up.  Am I on the right track by running the AUDIT of correct the error ARC0378I?

If you don't have it already, get the DFSMShsm Storage Administration manual
from the IBM publications website. The AUDIT command syntax is described in
chapter 30 and which conditions are detected by which options are described
in chapter 67.

Surely you can guess if NOFIX will actually fix any errors?

I thought that the NOFIX was a test just wanted to verify.
