I think the term you are looking for is INSULATION DISPLACEMENT DIP
CONNECTOR or IDC dip adapters .

if you were in Canada I'd say go to your local ACTIVE electronics , they
have those . in the US you could try and see if you have a FUTURE
electronics store ( their US counterpart)

the connectors are made by 3M if that helps any . PN 925120-40 .


you could also find a CHIP with long pins , and doing a bit of surgery
remove teh broken pin off the IDC conector like this
- cut the strip along the wire lenght to isolate it from the others
- remove the wire from the ppin it is pressed on
- remove the pin itself , you might want to heat it up a bit then pull
- take the IC pin and push it in the hole
- use the soldering iron to push it into the socket until it comes
out the other side and is even with the rest of the pins
- strip the wire you removed before
- solder it to the pin you just inserted .


primitive but I have done his to a few keyboard connectors on some
terminals and it does work .
