More so then in the U.S. That is rather then accepted at 10 location
(U.S.) they will accepted at 11 location. Of course I am joking. Anyone
would not that in the U.S. Diners Club is accepted in every major city at
least on 2-3 locations.

If you do not want to take cash carry American Express or Visa Card. The
most widely accepted card is Master Card.

I'm going to spend three months working in Budapest next summer. Would
anyone tell me if Diners Club- credit card is valid there? I wouldn't
like to carry too much cash with me.

Thanks, Tero W.

Oh yes, VISA is taken in Hungary. My bill at the Golden duck proves that...

Yes, even most of the street vendors will accept it. However, they will
try to push you that they take only cash (to avoid paying tax).

Darren,

What's the Golden duck? Is it worth a visit while I'm in Budapest?

Sorry Paul, (and all listmembers) for the lack of geographic place. The restaur
ant in in Pecs, near the main square. I received my best introduction to
Hungarian food there. The service was great and they didn't laugh too much
at the way we pronounced the menu items early on. By our fourth month, they
were practically teaching us more Hungarian.

I believe that in Hungarian, it is Aranycsa Kasca? Somebody help me on this one
please, I don't have a dictionary handy.

Yes, MasterCard and VISA are accepted in many locations. True, many
times these will be major hotels, rest.and local shopkeepers may not
always accept but they seem to be in the minority.
