***************************CALL FOR ACTION***********************************

Priority:
Normal

Background:

To discredit the 1956 Glorious Revolution in Hungary, the Kadar regime set out
to prove to the World that the uprising was instigated and led by common
criminals. For their purposes they have chosen a 24 years old medical student,
Ms. Ilona Toth, who was working in a hospital saving lives of freedom
fighters and Russian soldiers alike. This innocent, young woman was falsely
accused of murdering a communist security policeman by injecting gasoline into
his veins. She was sentenced to death by hanging. The sentence was carried out
on June 28 1957.

Investigation into Ms. Toth's case revealed the victim to be fictitious.
Character witnesses testified that she was incapable of carrying out such a
horrendous act. So far, the Hungarian Department of Justice refused to review
her case. We ask that the charges against Ms. Ilona Toth to be dismissed.
Thus rehabilitating her, giving peace of mind to her surviving relatives and
removing the slander from the Glorious 1956 Hungarian Revolution.

I. Hungarian Version:

Nyilt level Dr. Orbán Viktorhoz, a Magyar Koztarsasag Miniszterelnokehez:

Evek ota figyeljuk Toth Ilona orvostanhallgato, 1956-os martir, rehabilitacios

jelenlegi kormany becsuletet is. Ha mar nem lehet a bunosoket felfedni es

II. English Version:

Open letter to Dr. Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary.

For years we have been closely following the case of rehabilitating medical
student, Ms. Ilona Toth, a martyr of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. We are
ashamed and exasperated to see that for the past ten years the Hungarian
Justice System has
been unable to give Ms. Ilona Toth due respect and esteem simply because, in
the past, the vengeful Communist Regime declared her a common murderess. We
cannot believe that if there is a will the truth cannot be discovered and Ms.
Ilona Toth, posthumously declared innocent of all charges against her.

This mark of shame does not only belong to the past Communist Regime but also
casts its shadow on the integrity of the current Government. If the
criminals cannot be brought to justice, at least, the names of innocents
should be cleared of false accusations. This is the least that needs to be
done in the name of the Hungarian Nation. Without it there will not be
reconciliation and the national soul will never be healed.
(MH)

Respectfully,
Helcz Tibor, president
Haverland Attila, first secretary

Dr. Alfonz Lengyel, President/CEO
