When you subscribe to Help-Net or any other Listserv list, if you later want
to sign off it, you need to send the unsub or signoff request to listserv
from the same address you used when you signed up. If you switched from
BITnet to Internet, there's a chance that your system wasn't switched
properly in which case Listserv won't know what your old address was. As
such, when you try to signoff, Listserv MAY not know what your old address
was so it won't sign you off the particular list. If that's the case, you'l
need to get the List's owner to sign you off the list. You can find the
owner of a particular list by sending an E-mail message to the Listserv. In
the body of the message, type REV listname /SHORT and you'l get the info back
in the form of E-mail.
In the case of Help-Net, send an E-mail message to list...@vm.temple.edu.
In the body of the message, type REV HELP-NET /SHORT. Send the owner, who in
the case of Help-Net is me, a mail message and clearly indicate your OLD
E-mail address to ask to be signed off the list. Also, since some people run
more than one list, be sure to say which list you want to be signed off of.
Before you do this though, at least try to sign off the list on your own
though. Send an E-mail message to list...@vm.temple.edu. In the body of
the E-mail message, type SIGNOFF HELP-NET.
