I fear I will be too busy the rest of this week to wait until June
to post this, so here it is now.

Project Gutenberg has now posted approximately 600 Etexts since it
began in 1971, and hopes to reach 800 by December 10, 1996, and to
post number 1,000 on March 8, 1997, if we can remain on schedule.

At this moment we are slightly less than two months ahead, but the
summer months usually slow down quite a bit, and it should usually
take an intense several weeks during the Fall to catch up. If you
can take the time to help out over the summer, it would be greatly
appreciated, as with our current schedule being one book per day--
and next year's schedule being two books per day--we will not have
much ability to recover if we ever get very much behind.

For those who have sent me email over the past few days and didn't
receive a reply, please be patient, I will do all the easy ones in
as short a time as possible. If you don't get a reply by Thursday
please resend your messages on Friday, and I will try to get to do
the all over the weekend, if possible.

For those who see references to our Web site on jg.cso.uiuc.edu...
please notify those places of these new locations, and check up on
them to insure the old address gets replaces. We cannot do this a
site at a time from here, as we are listed in over 5,000 Web sites
around the world, most of whom we are not in direct contact with.

Thank you all so much!

Michael S. Hart

Since things are so busy right now, we will announce the formation
of Project Phoenix [the revival of materials that had been removed
from the Public Domain and returned to copyright status. . .by the
placement of these materials in offshore data havens] later.

Same for Project Prometheus and Project Phoenix Prime.

Sorry for the delay.

Those who have already contacted the offshore storage facilities--
please feel free to stay in contact with them directly.
