Across a plain of amber grain
the rolling hillocks speak of pain
the scars the burns the heat the dust
that fire left that water rusts

"Hey! Come to me! Now hear my song"
The warrior screams out to the throng
of silent stalks in gardens brown
of wings asunder torn aground

The sand a heartbeat not yet here
A place of water I hold dear
Instead a hollow whistle sings
across dead grasses Winter brings

The Manitou should not be called
unless the price you not forestall
your self, its gift your night
a season in the Winter blight

The stars a distant time dimmed fire
To say they live makes me a liar
Twas yesteryear, the light we be
across the vastness of the Sea

The Manitou should not be woken
the singing words should not be spoken
unless the tree your soul does hold
within its Green to make you bold

Seek solace in the evening shade
in waters' cool, life's slow parade
shelter next the hillock bare
the cool wind blowing through your hair

The Manitou, Green Man, or God
a name that's called into the fog
Beware! the Ocean wave cares not
should you tarry long in sun too hot

Seek solace in the Green of Dream
Smoke and Mirrors never seem
to be the thing that they reflect
I warn you now, be circumspect

The Manitou is gentle, deadly
its breath sweet, kiss ready
Bough and Willow, moss and stone
Beware the journey cross the bones

You stand alone, so hear me now
there is no kiss upon your brow
to hold the Green you must let go
butterfly upon the wind you sow

I cannot tarry by your side
This crash plainly cannot abide
Seek, do nothing, hear my voice
Be still, be silent, no other choice
