I was at my friendly neighborhood Babbage's today and one of the clerks
recommended Total Annilhation, saying that the graphics, AI, and general
gameplay were incredible. Anybody know anything about this game?

TA (as it is affectionately refered to) ROCKS!
It's definetly the most fun war game I've ever played. The gameplay is
great, the AI is half decent (compared to many games it's the best) and it's
just plain oodles of fun.

Hmmm...

You have internet access and don't know anything about this game? It's not
exactly new...

I must agree with him. TA is definitely one hell of a RTS game. One of the
best feature is the "unlimited" resources, IMO. Unlike many RTS games,
resources run out (I know it seems more logical) but TA resources run
indefinitely. Many games force you to complete before resources run out but
where is the fun. IMHO, I would like to play as long as I want in that
particular level.

Get that game plus its expansion pack : TA core contingency.

Hi Joel,

Total Annihilation is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!! If you're into real-time
strategy games, by all means check this one out. The graphics are
excellent. This is one of the few RTS games where terrain and elevation
actually make a difference in terms of unit speed, firing, etc. Because
this game is so popular (probably equalled only by Starcraft in the genre),
there is a lot of 3rd-party support for it on the Web in terms of
downloadable units and maps. Plus, Cavedog, TA's publisher, recently set up
online multiplayer for it on its Web site (called Boneyard). Be sure to
also get the add-ons for it: Battle Tactics and Core Contingency. These add
some really rockin' new units and tons of maps, plus the ability to build
up to 500 units.

I was so into this game that I played it all day every day for months. When
I wasn't playing it, I was making new maps for the game. It is so immersive
that I didn't even know one day that I was really sick and ended up in the
hospital's CCU for 9 days. (My husband shouldn't have broken my
concentration by reminding me it was dinner time. Then maybe I wouldn't
have ever stopped playing and not have had to go to the hospital. ;-D) And
then, I went absolutely bananas in the hospital, itching to get back home
to play TA again. The only reason I took this game off my system
eventually is that the game itself takes up about 500Meg and I went ape
downloading tilesets for maps to the point that the game, the tilesets, and
all the maps I made took up over 1Gig on my hard drive. But, now that I
have 14.8Gig of hard drive space , I just may reinstall it. Oh, did I
mention that I like this game? ;-D

BTW, anyone, is TA: Kingdoms out yet?

Lynn
