(Clinton, MA, July 7, 1995) -- Software Creations, which manages the worlds
most popular electronic BBS, today announced the introduction of software to
operate a fully-functional BBS on the World Wide Web. As the HOME BBS for
3D Realms and Apogee Software, you will find these great titles as well as
many others at this site.

Web BBS (tm) is the first product of its kind, replacing older protocols for
file and message transfer on the Internet with the convenience and ease-of-use
of a BBS system. The first prototype system went online earlier this week at
http://www.swcbbs.com, and is already generating paying subscribers.

"This software brings together the best features of two online worlds," says
Dan Linton, president and CEO of Software Creations. "BBS systems offer local
access and powerful systems for file and message management, but have been
hampered by the lack of a standardized graphical interface. The Internet
offers speed and economy, but lacks the tools that allow for easy management
of file and message bases."

"Web BBS allows anyone to operate a BBS on the World Wide Web, with file
libraries that feature full file descriptions, a powerful file search engine,
and quick download capabilities via the HTTP protocol. Subscribers need only
a web browser to access and use the system."

In the past five years, Software Creations BBS has grown to be one of the
most popular BBS systems in the world, known for its exceptional file
libraries for public download. The only BBS ever to win the Boardwatch
Magazine Top 100 Readers Award for two consecutive years, Software Creations
is the home system and first point of release for more than 50 leading
software companies, including industry-leaders Apogee, 3D-Realms, Id Software,
Capstone, and Parallax.

In conjunction with the introduction of the Web BBS, Software Creations has
created a new series of Web BBS add-on modules called WAMs (tm) to provide
extended BBS services to the system. These currently include modules for a
Time Bank and for a Whos Online feature that allows subscribers to see who
else is using the BBS at any given time. A Message Base module will be
introduced later this year to allow local message base conferences with QWK
mail support (import/export) and support for Internet, FidoNet and other
popular network newsgroups.

"We will continue to operate the current BBS system, which runs on the popular
PCBoard BBS system from Clark Development," notes Linton. "We see the Web BBS
as a way to make our system, and the products of our software authors, more
accessible to people from around the world."

Linton and Software Creations have been a highly visible part of the
online and BBS communities for the past three years. Linton is a founding
member of the industry's professional association, the Association of Online
Professionals, and serves on that organizations Board of Directors. Linton
and his BBS operations have been the subject of media articles in publications
as diverse as Boardwatch Magazine, Business Week, and US News & World Report
as well as such television shows as ABC Prime Time Live.
