Local Businesses to Practice Chemical Emergency Preparedness
The Saint Bernard and Winton Communities Awareness Emergency Response Group
(CAER) will be conducting a Hazardous Materials Drill on May 3, 2000
at 11:30 AM.
The public and media are invited to attend and observe. Attendees should
report to the Cognis Plant site at 4900 Este Avenue, Gate 3, Cincinnati,
Ohio no later than 11:30 AM.
The drill will simulate a hazardous materials release, and is being
conducted with participation by the Cincinnati Fire and Police Divisions,
the Saint Bernard Fire and Police, Hamilton County Emergency Management
Agency, and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

The Cincinnati Fire Division is please to announce the promotion of Robert
Kuhn, Christopher Corbett and Mose Demasi to the rank of Assistant Fire
Chief.
Chief Kuhn is a 16-year veteran of the Division. Since 1995 he has served as
a District Fire Chief. In his last assignment he worked in the Division's
Fourth District. In addition to handling regular duties of District Chiefs,
District Four is assigned the task of the overseeing the manpower for the
entire division. Assistant Chief Kuhn will be assigned to the Human Resource
Bureau.
Chief Corbett is a 25-year veteran of the Division. Since 1989 he has served
as a District Fire Chief. In his last assignment he worked in the Division's
Third District. In addition to handling regular duties of District Chiefs,
District Three is assigned the task of the overseeing the staffing of the
Division's Paramedic Engine Companies and Rescue Units. Assistant Chief
Corbett will be assigned to the Operations Bureau.
Chief Demasi is a 14-year veteran of the Division. Since 1997 he has served
as a District Fire Chief. In his last assignment he worked in the
Division's Operation Bureau. This bureau is assigned the task of overseeing
the Division's Fire and Emergency Medical Units. As an Assistant Chief,
Chief Demasi will be assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Twelve additional promotions will occur. Individuals promoted to District
Fire Chief are Robert McWilliams, Thomas Lakamp and Anson Turley.
Individuals promoted to Fire Captain are Joseph Robertson, Michael Zimmerman
and Kenneth Clark. Promoted to Fire Lieutentant are Michael Helbing, Steven
Kortekamp and Ronald Wilkins. Three other promotions will also take place:
Robert Hasting to Fire Specialist, Rick Tonnis and Jeffery Wauligman to Fire
Apparatus Operator.
The Fire Division welcomes the 15 newly promoted members to their new
positions.

The Cincinnati Fire Division will hold a swearing in ceremony on Thursday
May 4, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall. The newly
promoted Assistant Fire Chiefs, Robert Kuhn, Christopher Corbett, Mose
Demasi and many newly promoted Fire Division members will be sworn in at
this time.
Tentatively scheduled to speak at the event are the Mayor, Mr. Charles
Luken, The City Manager, Mr. John Shirey, Safety Director, Mr. Kent Ryan,
and Fire Chief Robert Wright.
Please join City Administrators, the Cincinnati Fire Division and the
families of newly promoted members as they celebrate the accomplishments of
these individuals.
