Next week Tuesday, June 23, 1992, the ESL-L list will have it's
name changed to DECTEI-L.

You do NOT need to do anything to maintain your subscription to
this list.

We will be sending out a more detailed announcement after the change.

I, for one, would like to strongly encourage you to *retain* the ESL-L
list and allow it to be used for its original purpose -- sharing of
ideas, etc. about *one* of Digital's important TEI programs. In my
view, this purpose has been lost as the ESL-L has been used more
broadly (largely by Digital) for information about TEI programs
and activities.

I applaud the idea of starting a new list, DECTEI-L, for information
and discussion of a broad range of TEI topics. I believe, however,
that while the subscribers to the two lists would have some overlap,
there will be many whose interests are well-served by separate lists.
