Dear All,

I wonder if anyone knows of a system (preferably open source) which I could
install on one of my servers (linux) and which offers some or all of the
functionality of writely/docs.google.com - especially the ability to
collaboratively develop documents and track changes.

For confidentiality reasons (working with google actually gives google the
right to all documents), I do not want to use google though I suspect that
google may be the most advanced of the commonly-available systems.

Thank you very much
Andrew

On the Mac side, check out SubEthaEdit. It's not free, but you can get a free
30 day trial. It is collaborative, but I don't know if it allows you to track
changes or not.

How about using a wiki? They are much easier to support. Even though they don't
give you the full word processing power, they do allow you to branch out as
more topics are branched out. We are anxiously waiting for the new Mac OS X
Server 10.5 which will support wikis, blogs and podcasts.

I second the use of a wiki. You can use the Moodle wiki -- that will keep
the documents behind a password -- or you can use a site like wikispaces.com
or pbwiki.com.
