Hi,
I have done some consulting for a local company. About a year ago we
were sitting around thinking about podcasting in a school environment
and the problem of transferring files came up. We wanted to come up
with a secure way to transfer files that did not involve posting them
on the internet or bogging down a school network.
What we came up with was a USB file transfer device that works with
USB flash drives and USB mp3 players. The device works with or
without a computer. Basically, it is a small box that has one slot for
a USB flash drive that serves as the source drive. There are 15 slots
for USB flash drives that serve as the "target" drive. Simply pushing
a button would let you send files to up to 15 target drives or
collect data from up to 15 target drives and store it on the source
drive.
So---- this device lets teachers distribute files to students'
USB flash drives and/or mp3 players. It also enables teachers to
collect files from students' flash drives, 15 at a time!
I got to play with the first prototype today and was impressed with
how well it worked.
I think there are lots of possibilities for this to be used in an
educational setting and was wondering what other educators thought
about it.
