Cynthia,
There is a lot of info out there about teaching Internet to children. Start
with the children's sections at the American Library Association's web site,
http://www.ala.org.
You can find a number of great articles in professional journals as well. If you
have acces to H.W. Wilson's Education Full Text database, search for your topic
by keywords. Look at the online resources at http://www.eduweb.com.

Hi ~ I developed a website for young children K-5. Teaching them how to
use the Internet is different than teaching them using the the internet.

Students in first grade barely know how to read (if in fact they do read),
so the internet can be a place of "games" or it can be a place of learning,
depending on where you take them.

Since I don't want the "arcade" atmosphere in my lab, I have selected sites
that have an educational value. Most of my students have practiced reading
and math in my labs. I tried to 'uncomplicate' selection when a young
student enters a site, and with the permission of the webmaster, have put
early elementary areas in my early elementary areas, still keeping the
whole site that is linked credited to the creator.

Take a look at my site and use it if it helps you. Since I have been
working on it for a number of years and keep on working on it, this site
should provide your young learners with quality sites to use.

Links to Learn is at http://www.mikids.com

Cheers,

Carolyn
