I am retiring in June, if you are available, please consider this position
at a small private High School with a great faculty:

Saint John's Catholic Prep, a co-ed, college preparatory high school in
Frederick, MD, is seeking a Director of Technology for the 2014-2015 school
year. This is a full-time position with benefits; salary is commensurate
with experience. Ideal candidates would have some experience in an
educational setting, either at the high school or college level, and should
possess a willingness to work with a students, faculty and staff. A

Director of Technology for Saint John's Catholic Prep
12 month position

Is responsible for training, modeling, and assisting teachers in integrating
technology in the classroom to improve student achievement. Coordinates the
instruction, configuration, and management of instructional and
non-instructional school computer networks. Acquires and updates skills as
necessary for effective instructional technology use and network management.
Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software. Trains users
in applications on the network and Internet. Coordinates activities of
outside vendors, consultants and trainers. Is a member of the Academic
Council and Administrative Team. Reports to the Principal.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manages aspects of learning management system, educational domains
of software tools, and other resources as needed

a. Coordinates the maintenance, operation and management of existing
school computer network. Configures local workstations as needed.

b. Develops an overall computer security plan for the school to include
user, end-point, network, and software security.

c. Maintains software resource library and works to develop necessary
documentation to include, but not to be limited to, network wiring, hardware
and software configurations

d. Maintains inventory of hardware and related peripherals.

e. Maintains the school's Voice over IP (VOIP) telephone infrastructure

f. Ensures software in the school is properly licensed and maintains
related records.

2. Provides teachers with strategies of how technology can be used to
achieve student expectation, environment encouraging creative and
independent use of instructional technology

a. Facilitates the use of existing and emerging technology by staff and
students. (Such as interactive websites, blogs, digital projectors, Moodle,
United Streaming, and individual response units.)

b. Coordinates and/or provides training to school faculty in technology
resources and software provided, including Edline, GradeQuick, ExamView Pro,
Moodle, ABTutor, Smart Response, and Microsoft Office 365.

c. Organizes technology resources for easy accessibility by students
and staff.

3. Models effective use of technology in the classroom for teachers and
students.

a. Facilitates staff participation in the evaluation and selections of
new software, hardware, and materials to support instructional objectives.

b. Encourages students' development of skills by the use of
instructional technology resources. Helps students, one-on-one basis and in
a classroom setting.

c. Performs demonstration teaching or occasionally presents a new
product or idea to whole classes.

4. Is a resource person, able to respond to a wide range of questions
about hardware, software, and computer applications in education.

a. Maintains contact with sources of information and/or help, such as
computer teachers, MSET, Archdiocesan Tech Gathers, MEEC, ISTE,
computer-oriented professional organizations and vendors.

b. Attends appropriate meetings and conferences. Keeps up on new
resources; bringing these to the attention of teachers who might use it.

c. Incorporates principles of national instructional technology plans
into school technology planning. Further, works with academic leadership to
ensure that technology supports the school's curriculum and instructional
program.

5. Works with the school technology department and/or committee to
create a budget.

a. Makes the technology budget recommendation to school administration.

b. Drafts and completes the application for e-rate funds.

c. Works with the appropriate resources to apply for technology grants
to improve the technology resources available to the school.

6. Responsible for the planning, design and installation of future
network expansions as growth demands.

7. Trains and supports student volunteers.

8. Chairs the Technology Department.

9. Works with school non-teaching and administrative personnel to help
them make effective use of computer technology and Rediker in doing their
jobs.

10. Interprets the school's instructional technology program for staff,
parents and members of the community.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
College degree
Classroom experience with knowledge of and experience with sound teaching
strategies and innovative pedagogy Expertise and experience with teaching
and troubleshooting hardware, software applications and online resources
Experience with SIS (Rediker Administrator's Plus preferred) Networking
administration skills (Windows server 2008 R2, and Azure), including
switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls (Sonic Wall)
Experience developing and implementing a comprehensive security plan.
Experience with user, end-point, network, and software security.
Experience with the management, implementation, and security of multiple
end-points including desktop PCs, Laptops, Tablets, and hand-held devices
Demonstrated leadership in educational technology Ability to learn quickly
and adapt as needed Strong analytical and problem solving skills Creativity,
initiative, and effective time management skills Strong collaborative skills
and interpersonal abilities Possess a positive attitude, patience, and an
ability to communicate effectively with both adults and students
