Hello list,

I am trying to help a 7th grade teacher in our school with an idea she has
for a distance learning project. Please see her message below. We would
love to "connect" with students in another part of the country. We are on
the East coast.

We are fortunate to have an ITV room and use it regularly. It is new to me
but I am learning quickly. It clearly has enormous potential.

If anyone would be interested in "connecting" with our school and this
teacher please email me privately. Thanks!

Last night I had an idea to expand a project that I am doing with my
homeroom during our lifeskills period.I am having students research
different topics about Iraq and the Middle east. For example, religion,
customs, food, geography, music, folk lore, dance, fashion, sports, how
the war affects the people of Iraq, history of the war, ancient art, etc.

The kids are making powerpoint presentations about their topic. We are
also making food for the "Middle Eastern Day" that we could share with
your students during the presentations. After the presentations, kids
could play a jeopardy review for the topics (powerpoint jeopardy).

The kids doing this project are 7th grade Northfield (NJ, USA) students.
We have about 23 kids working in groups of 2 or 3. I just thought that
this would be fun. Also, we aren't covering all of the topics. Perhaps
kids on your end would like to also cover topics and share their
presentations, but this is not necessary. It would be great if you just
participated.

Let me know. I teach math at Northfield, this is just a life skills class
taught in homeroom. My goal is for the kids to understand the war, gain a
knowledge of the people, geography and history, and gain a tolerance for
the people of iraq vs. Saddam Hussein.

Thanks
