We are considering a change in our student information system.
Powerschool seems to be system most suggested.
We are a small schoool district, with less than 500 students k-12.
It would be most helpful to hear from others using this system.
High School Teachers: will Powerschool keep a cummulative average during
2nd quarter
for eligibility purposes. We need to average 1st and 2nd quarter, with the
2nd quarter having
a percent contribution to the student average calculated by the number of
weeks passed.
Alternatively we need an easy copy and paste function to carry total
points from 1st quarter into 2nd quarter.
Administrative assistants. Ease to produce transcripts suitable for
colleges, ease of monitoring attendance, ease of producing reports
for federal and state mandates?
Elementary, k-2 teachers. Gradebook format suitable for reporting progress
to parents.
Clarity of linking standards to the report card.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and for offering any comments.

Hi Mike,
I am with a large school district. We are in our first year of
Powerschool. We have had many problems that we have worked through. I will
say the Powerschool is a nice tool overall. You can document everything to
comments on assignments, comments on final grades, review test data for
all years for each student. Students and parents can log in as well to
review test data, grades, attendance, behavior logs, etc. Overall it is a
powerful tool for everyone if it is promoted and used. It works well for k
- 12. As a specialist my team (art, music, gym and foreign language) work
together to make sure we are all on the same page for grading, documenting
behavior issues and assigning assignments. There is a lot to learn but in
long run it will be worth every penny spendt on it.

Is there anyone out there using TeacherEase? My school has been using it for
about 4 years now, there are many things about it to like, but there are
certainly some shortcomings. How does it compare to Powerschool?
Does any one have any insights, comments, to share on grading tools that are
available for teachers/students/parents?
My principal is considering shopping around for a new grading system.
thanks in advance

We use Rediker's Administrators Plus, GradeQuick and Edline which are
all set up to work together easily. We went with Rediker because of the
Development, Scheduling, Admissions and Financial modules. With aprox
300 students in a private HS it works well for us, staff and parents are
happy.
