Susan, thanks for the great ideas. I'm going to try and find those Color
Slicks today! Here's another fun thing I used to use with Grace -- kept her
occupied longer than most fine motor stuff: fill clear plastic cups with water
and put a drop of food coloring in each, some empty cups and a couple of eye
droppers. Once she got a handle on the squeeze, dunk, lift, release, she
really went to town. Oh yes, another biggie: stick several pieces of spagetti
into a ball of clay or play doh, and a big bowl of Cheerios for stringing on
the sticks of spagetti. Sam loves to do this now.

I am excited to learn about the Color Slicks. Isaiah loves to draw but hardly makes any marks at all with a regular crayon. He gets very frustrated, so we have stuck with markers. I would love to get him into crayons again!

A question for Michelle: Are the oil pastel crayons washable and/or Non toxic? (Just curious)

We hide pennies and nickels in playdough and Isaiah has to pinch and grab the coins out. I wouldn't recommend it for a younger children who mouths stuff but he likes to dig away and try to pull out the coins. (I saw his OT do it with him once)

Does anyone else have anything they do with their kids that they think helps with fine motor skills? This is Isaiah's worst area and I would love to hear some new ideas of things to do to help improve his skills!

Hi Angela,
Yes, The ones we get do say they are non toxic. I wouldn't give them to a
child without supervision. I haven't had any trouble with them no washing
out of things and Courtney has been using them for over a year now.

I happened to stumble upon Color Slicks at CVS for $1.99. Well, my son drew his first picture with crayons! He actually sat there for about 20 minutes with no frustration. They work great and the colors are deep even with the little pressure he gives it.

Thanks for the info!
