Hi Dino

I have tried the web site you suggested - ftp.uk.bio-rad.com but I can't get through!
      Is this the right one?

To all relevant Bio-Rad LSM customers:

We are pleased to announce the release of a Y2K compliant version of
           CoMOS.

In order to take advantage of this free upgrade you must first
currently have CoMOS version 7.0 or 7.0a. installed on your LSM PC. If
you do not, please contact your local Bio-Rad After Sales Support team
           for upgrade details.

This new version, CoMOS 7.1, is available from our UK FTP site.  The
           site details are as follows:

           Server Name: ftp.uk.bio-rad.com
           User Name:   y2kcomos
           Password:    mouse

You will instantly be taken to a a directory called

           ftp/techinfo/y2kcomos

           This directory contains two files:

           install.txt
           comos.700

REMEMBER TO DOWNLOAD IN BINARY MODE TO MAINTAIN FILE INTEGRITY

Once downloaded, simply copy comos.700 into the directory where the
           existing comos.700 file is i.e. c:\comos

If you have any questions please contact your local support group.

Dear Manuela,

The FTP site address below is correct, I've just checked it myself.
However, looking at the way you've tried to access the site it appears
you may have used Netscape or Windows Explorer, if you have, you need
to access the site by typing in the user name and password as well as
the ftp address in the "Location" field like this:

ftp://y2kcomos:mo...@ftp.uk.bio-rad.com

Please let us know if this has helped, if not I'll ask our IT group to
investigate.

Good luck,

Dino

The COMOS Y2K download seems to be okay. I had no problem downloading it with WS-FTP, and answering the request for the password AFTER logging in with the username as given in the email message Dino sent. Thanks!

Hi All,

I know that some of us use Windows 95 with the Bio-Rad CoMos software. Is
anyone using Windows 98? Has anyone tried and found that it didn't work
and what were the problems. I have thought of using a dual boot with
DOS/CoMos as one option and Windows 95/98 as the other. Can anyone see a
problem with this idea besides having to reboot when going back and forth
between the two operating systems.

Thanks for your input. If no one has tried it, I will and forward the
results.
