The technology behind Defywire makes it harder for kids to play hooky from
school. Defywire makes a wireless application called Mobile Guardian that
lets school administrators, faculty, and security personnel access students'
information via handheld devices, like smart phones and Palm personal
digital assistants. Public school systems around the country use Mobile
Guardian to find out students' emergency contact information, medical
records, class schedules, and more. Defywire was started in 2003 by CEO Jill
Stelfox and COO Jim Sondel.
