I know chain-letter type of postings aren't warmly welcomed, but I thought
this one sounded more interesting than most (of course, I'm sure I'll be
told this one isn't true, either). So you don't have to scroll through
the whole thing if you don't want to, the point of this is someone at USC
is trying to see how long it will take for this message to get back to a
friend of hers. It was started November 1, 1995. And there's even an OCC
(that being 6 DEGREES OF SEPARATION).

and then pass it on if you want to. It's actually a pretty awesome idea.
Don't erase the forwards if you decide to pass it on!

Dear Everyone:
Does anyone know a Bill Ellis? This guy at USC wanted to test the
"6 Degrees of Separation" theory to see how long it would take to reach
his friend. So, anyways, pass this along but don't erase the forwarded
addresses (because that's the whole point). Love,
Claire

Hey--some guy at USC is trying to prove the Six Degrees of Separation
theory by seeing how long it takes his friend to receive his message as
it is sent through random people. Do him a favor and forward this to
anyone you can think of (who hasn't already received it) and don't erase
the previous forwarded messages--the point is to keep them on the message.

Okay Boys and Girls, this is not a chain letter and not intended to be
one. This is simply a test and only a test. A friend sent it to me and
told me to pass it on so I am. And I want all of you to pass it on.
Don't delete the forwards since that's the point. I've been wanting to
do this myself but never got around to it. If any of you do not want any
more mail from me please tell me instead of telling the ACC. Thanks and
have a pleasant day. :)

Main reason for the coolness of reception isn't truth or lack thereof,
but the amount of net bandwidth they waste. System's slow enough
already, without posting to hundreds of people and asking *them* to post
to loads more.

Onto the 6 degrees though. This proved to be the perfect post-film
discussion in the pub, and the theory my pals and I came up with is that
many long distance connections would go through famous people, as a *lot*
of people know them. Thus, if I can get to the Queen or Duke of
Edinburgh (easily done through D of E award channels), then they know
just about every major head of state on the planet, and it's easy to work
down from them.
Plenty of obscure, unspottable ones too, of course, but this theory does
let some pretty weird possibilities come off a bit easier.

Pete.
