This is my first reply on this list. (I hope I'm not speaking out of line.)

I don't know where that "Give a man a fish..." quote came from exactly, but I
think Mother Teresa of Calcutta has used it before. Did it originate from her?

Hi fellow CHRISTIAns
A colleague of mine was wondering if there was anybody out there who
could find the origin of the quote:

Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day.
Teach him how to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime.

The only clue we have come up with is that it is supposed to be a
Chinese saying. (I thought it might have been something Samuel Booth
or someone like that would have said).

God bless LOTS
Jill.

I don't know who the saying originated with, but a safe bet for the
original poster is checking the Bartlett's Book of Familiar Quotations...
It may or may not be in there.

I am also new on this mailing list, and hope I'm not out of turn. I
have heard this quote attributed to the gentleman who founded Heiffer
Project International (Dan something - can't remember his last name).
Hope this helps.
