Chuck, you bring back good memories to this ol bluesman.
I played a "3.2 joint" in Sedalia, Mo. many years ago. The
name of the place was: "Wiggle In" Believe me, my friend,
this roadhouse lived up to its name. On a Sunday afternoon
it was all a man could do, to get inside the door ... with many
of the jammers dancing on the sidewalk in front. There was
hardly any interference from the locals police, for the seldom
frequited

it was all a man could do, to get inside the door ... with many

hardly any interference from the locals police, for they seldom
frequented this area, unless they were traveling in "fours".
One of the places that I cut my teeth in, was a club called:
"I Like It Like That" (Marshall, Mo.), also the infamous "Paradise
Inn" (Slater, Mo.) These old sway-back tar papered shacks weren't
culture centers, yet there were many lessons learned there that I
have carried for a life time. Cheap port was the drink of choice.
At midnight the devil was unchained, the groove was set with
everything turning to pure magic. Just the way it was.

Isn't that "Henry's SWING Club"?

I read a review recently of new words spawned by computer use. One term I
really liked was the measure of time known as the "ohnosecond". It is the
length of time it takes to hit the wrong button and realize what you've
just done...

To which I'm now replying:
P.W. I do believe you might be onto something there..as I was going by
recall when I posted those club names. It just seemed that I could
recall his emphasis on the SWANK
club...but I guess that could have been SWING instead.
I think SWANK was a trashy (probably collectible) mens "adventure"
magazine from the 6O's...that I AM sure of..:)

,,when I read the previous posting it brought back memories of an underaged
visit over 30 years ago to the above mention establishment also fondly
known as "The Wiggle Inn, Wobble Out". While visiting the joint that day,
sad to say there was no music but I did see the town only pimp chased into
the women's bathroom by several well-armed men. Thank God for open windows
in unairconditioned building.

Add these clubs of confused ehtnicity:
Guido Murphy's (Connecticut)
Jose Muldoon's (Colorado Springs)
And one I like (maybe a good name for a band, too):
Jump Steady (Buena Vista, CO)

Bob, is that what it is called: "Ohnosecond" ? .. ;-) I have another term
for it, but cant publish it in open forum... ya know what I mean?? lol
Cheers
maxdog, I love your friend ... sounds like my kind of people. And hey,
if the bass player cant take it, send him home; there are only about 20
more standing around the corner, (not meaning to offend the many great
bassmen of the world) Having spent the weekend with Robbie Laws, and
his bass player (Pat Counts) .. we have had a blast. Course we all know
what you call a bass player without a girlfriend? -- homeless! ;-)
And thats the way it goes ... ! Sorry for the rambling .. things are a
little
slow here in central Missouri tonight.

We talkin bout the same club? If you saw some fat cops in the back room
with chicken grease drippin down their shirts, huggin on some momma's,
with the lights suddenly coming on at 12 am, it's the same place. Course
there was "Nat's Place" just down the street, with a blind man shooting
craps, that took everyones dust. I swear that man could see, but I have
looked him dead in the eye, he never blinked. Love them ol blues clubs.
BTW -- wasnt the "Fickle Pickle" club the one that was started by Mike
Bloomfield? Apple juice was served neat or on ice. What you put with it,
was your business.
