I'm saddened to announce the death of a great, great bluesman here in Canada.

Tony Flaim was one of the best singers this country has ever heard. He was in
Downchild Blues Band for about 10 years and did 6 albums with the band, the
last one being "It's Been So Long" (1987). He passed away in his sleep on
Friday, March 10th due to a suspected heart attack.

As with most of the Toronto blues community, we are shocked and saddened by
the death of a good friend. Tony was so excited and rejuvenated to be working
with us (just as we were to have such an incredible singer as our guest).
"TF" did some preproduction sessions with us and we were booked on Monday to
go into the recording studio to include him on our new CD. We were stunned to
hear the news.

Specific details regarding the funeral arrangements for Tony Flaim are in
today's Toronto Star. People may pay their respects at the Earle-Elliott
Funeral Home at 715 Dovercourt Rd on Monday, March 13th at 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Those people who saw Tony on stage with us recently will recall his powerful &
unique voice - that man could SING! Our sympathy goes out to his wife Kathy
and his son Seamus.

This news is distressing as more sadness befalls the followers of Downchild.
Tony Flaim's voice will surely be missed. Richard "Hock" Walsh passed from a
heart attack at the New Year. My sympathies to all who suffer from the loss of
these troubles of the heart.
