Not sure what induction in the R&R HOF gets you, even if you're alive.
Still in all, I am immensely pleased at this induction.

It says at the very bottom of that article on Lil Walter, TK is the
presenter.

Does anybody have a clue who TK could be at the Introductory Dinner?

Thanks

Little Walter joins Madonna as a nominee this year! I'm not quite sure
what to make of that.

Little Walter was inducted by Ben Harper.

It's great that Little Walter was inducted, but to put him in as a sideman
undercuts his stature. He had 14 top ten hits in 6 years as a leader,
surpassing Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and other blues bandleaders of the
time.

That's good to hear.

I agree, Louis - Little Walter was a bandleader in his own right. That's
clear.

On the other hand, I don't want to diminish the importance of sidemen. Some
of the best musicians in the blues have been, and still are, sidemen.

I watched the induction, and I something I found very interesting: someone
must have forgotten to tell the presenters that he was going into
the "sideman" category, because as far as I could tell there was no mention
at any point during his induction ceremony of Little Walter AS a sidemen.
No mentions or examples of his work with Muddy Waters (or anyone else),
presenter Ben Harper never referred to him in any context other than as a
solo artist, and none of the interviewees featured in the short tribute
film (which opened with a brief clip of former LW bandmate Jimmie Lee
Robinson being interviewed in my living room!) said anything about his work
as a sideman either. And for the live performance segment featuring James
Cotton and Ben Harper, they performed "Juke" and "My Babe", Little Walter's
two #1 hits as a solo artist. So for all practical purposes, it looked and
sounded exactly like a full-blown artist induction. In fact, I saw an
incorrect but understandable reference somewhere yesterday to LW's
induction into the "early influences" category, which I believe is the same
category as Muddy and other blues people in the R&R HOF.

What I found even more interesting was just how clueless the backup band was. They totally MANGLED those tunes behind James Cotton.
